Instructions for Teachers
Register your production at least four weeks before opening night. The first 20 schools to register will be adjudicated. Schools registering after the first 20 will be added to our wait list. Unless you hear from us, you are registered with the program once you receive our automated email confirmation. 1. Choose your musical. Make sure it is included on the Jimmy Awards list of eligible titles. We can only adjudicate shows on that list. 2. Register your show. Use our online form to register your preduction. You will be asked to upload a copy of your performance license. You can submit it with your registration or at a later date. We charge $175 per cast to register, two casts maximum. Pay when you register with a credit or debit card, or pay later by card or check. |
3. Cast nomination. After you complete the registration form, you will see our confirmation page. You will also receive a confirmation email (from [email protected]). Each contains the link to our simple cast nomination form. Use that form to nominate your eligible cast members for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress awards. Nominate each cast member one at a time. We will ask for Directors Choice Chorus nominations in April.
4. Student registration. After you nominate your students, each will receive a link by email to our student registration form. Each student must register with our program, including providing parental consent, before we will adjudicate them. Student registration is free.
Payment
All registration fees go directly to funding the program. Your registration fee covers all aspects of your participation in the program including adjudication and evaluations, student nominees, production nominees, Directors Choice Chorus participants, and Jimmy Award nominees. You can pay by check or card. If you do not pay when you register, we will contact you to make arrangements. All payments must be received before the first performance.

Instructions for Students
Students participate as nominees from their school drama programs. Teachers nominate students performing in eligible roles to our program.
There is no fee for any student to participate. We do require each student participating in the program to complete a student registration form. That way we know they are interested in the program and will make themselves available for it. Each nominated student should complete and submit the form. We require at least one parent/guardian email address and a signature from that parent/guardian in order for the student to participate.

LGBTQIA+ Participation
The following statement from the Jimmy Awards details how our awards program works with gender identification.
“For the purposes of the NHSMTA program, students are adjudicated in the category corresponding to their gender identification, not the gender of the role that they played. Students identifying as non-binary or gender-fluid may choose to either select the category in which they wish to be adjudicated (regardless of the gender of the role) OR they may be adjudicated based on the gender of the role they played. All casting or script change requests for performances in the NHSMTA program must be approved beforehand. The regional awards program should be prepared to submit proof of approval from the show’s licensing organization.”
