The first 20 high schools completing applications will be guaranteed participation.
Schools Any public, private, or charter high school performing an approved, full-length Broadway musical may enter. Official rules for eligibility in the national program (Jimmy Awards) apply. Shows and roles in our awards program must be eligible for the Jimmy Awards. The national organization accepts only standard or school versions of the musicals, and so must we. No 101 Collection, Broadway Junior, G2K (Getting to Know Series), Young Performers Edition, and Young@Part versions can be accepted, nor can we accept concert versions. If the show you want to do or the role you want adjudicated does not appear on the Jimmy Awards' official eligibility list, we can appeal for you. First check the list of shows and/or roles that are not eligible for appeal. If your show or role is not on the list, you may submit your appeal to us on your registration form (available soon). Please allow an extra month for an appeal process once we have your request and the information we need. Local high schools agree to adjudication and scoring by judges selected by our program. The top schools will be announced April 15, 2019 and invited to participate in our awards show May 4. Any high school program requiring overnight stays to participate must contact us immediately after they are announced as participants to work out details. Schools will be charged $150 per cast adjudicated, maximum two, which covers all aspects of their participation. The fee is due before adjudications. Students All students performing in their school’s show must be currently enrolled in school. Both graduating seniors and underclassmen are eligible. Homeschool students are eligible if they perform with a participating high school. Middle school or younger students participating in the production are not eligible for adjudication regardless of their role. Our adjudicators will only score students performing in roles deemed eligible by the national program — or for supporting role awards, deemed eligible through our criteria — who have been nominated by their teachers and who have completed the student registration process. Award show rehearsals are a requirement for participation in the individual awards. Students must agree to be available for the rehearsal periods noted on the registration form to participate in the Enchantment Awards and the Jimmy Awards. Students requiring overnight stays to participate with us must contact us immediately after they are announced as nominees to work out details. We provide hotel rooms or other accommodations as necessary during the rehearsal period in Albuquerque. All basic costs are covered for participants in the Jimmy Awards in New York. |
