Put 150 New Mexican drama students together on the Popejoy Hall stage, and you generate enough energy to light up the state!
Every year since 2016, we honor the musical theatre accomplishments of New Mexico’s high school drama students — all without charging them a dime.
We adjudicate performances and productions, choose the best, and bring those students together for a week of intensive rehearsals, workshops, individual coaching, and production internships.
We feed and house them at our cost, preparing them to perform on stage in Popejoy Hall with the best of their peers from across the state. This is an experience and honor they will remember for a lifetime!

New Mexico to Broadway
We send our Best Actor and Best Actress to the Jimmy Awards (the National High School Musical Theatre Awards) every year at our cost. There, they learn from Broadway professionals and perform on a Broadway stage with over 100 of their peers from across the country. Students attending compete for 22 scholarships and all perform for a panel of producers, directors, and casting directors.

Learning takes its place center stage
We are an awards show once a year, but an education program every day.
Our program teaches students directly in workshops, coaching sessions, and professional rehearsals, preparing and empowering them specifically for the Enchantment Awards performance. We also lead original workshops for students at theatre festivals and educate their teachers through professional development sessions.
Though not all students pursue performing arts careers, our program always goes with them, whatever their path. Students leave knowing that if they can rise to the challenges we give them, they can rise to any challenges ahead.
